What is Structural Medicine
Structural Medicine is an advanced form of bodywork that uses myofascial release, postural analysis, and movement re-education to restore proper alignment and function to a client’s body. It is often used to treat injuries, chronic pain, and movement dysfunctions.
Designed around working with fascia, Structural Medicine focuses on the changes we can make to your body by working to manipulate this valuable connective tissue. Fascia directly impacts your body's ability to maintain alignment and therefore plays a large role in how you move and what patterns you assume. Structural Medicine was created to take a closer look at these patterns to help release what is holding you back.
What to expect
Typical sessions last 2 hours. This provides the necessary time to provide a thorough treatment to address your pain or movement concerns. Sessions begin by taking a history, analyzing your posture, and performing MFLT (myofascial length testing) to get a better understanding of how to address your concerns. With the gathered information we begin a tailored treatment to best reach your goals while using body positioning and movement to optimize the myofascial release. Sessions come to an end with enough time to re-evaluate and educate clients on the changes found and instruct movement lessons to help keep the changes.
